Designing and implementing impactful urban solutions
As an innovation lead at CIVIX, I collaborated with local governments to create structured, research-driven processes that address urban challenges. The goal was to develop scalable, human-centered solutions that improved public services and municipal decision-making.
How can cities leverage data, research, and community engagement to improve quality of life, streamline operations, and implement sustainable urban policies.
Each municipality was guided through a structured process:
Identifying key municipal challenges based on existing data and stakeholder input
Conducting field and desk research to define real-world urban pain points
Developing innovative strategies through ideation sessions with citizens and city officials
Implementing prototypes to test solutions before full-scale rollout
Facing increasing congestion and lack of efficient transportation, we piloted a flexible municipal transit service connecting the city to nearby rail stations and bus hubs. The initiative reduced private car dependency by 30% in its test phase and was integrated into the city’s transportation plan.
Elad struggled with illegal waste dumping and poor sanitation infrastructure. We implemented a data-driven waste monitoring system, launched a citizen reporting app, and collaborated with local schools to develop awareness campaigns. Within six months, there was a 40% reduction in reported waste violations.
During a crisis, municipal response times were slow due to limited personnel. The solution was a community ambassador program, training local volunteers to assist in emergencies.
This initiative trained local ambassadors to act as first responders, ensuring better preparedness for emergencies and strengthening trust between residents and the municipality.
We also developed structured tools and frameworks to help the municipality effectively launch and sustain the ambassador program.
